SummaryOf Primary Function
The primary function for this position is to ensure timely collection, analysis and communication of clinical data for chart abstracted measures, registries, accreditations and certifications as identified by the organization.
Essential Job Functions- Responsible for abstraction, analysis, and submission of data to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, CMS conditions of participation, payor requirements, and medical staff bylaws.
- Identifies and communicates patterns and trends of data and opportunities for improvement to site based teams and quality leaders.
- Serves as a subject matter expert to site teams regarding individual measures and data definitions.
- Participates in data verification and validation to ensure accuracy, integrity and inter-rater reliability of all data elements.
- Participates in quality improvement activities that will promote patient safety and address opportunities identified in the abstraction, analysis or synthesis process.
- Participates in ongoing education to ensure application of current data definitions.

Patient Population- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.

- Registered Nurse (licensure required)

Minimum Years and Type of Experience in abstraction: 3-5 years.

- QMR, data abstraction, EPIC chart review and analysis
- Combination of post-secondary education and experience in lieu of a degree.
