The City of Virginia Beach’s Department of Human Services seeks to hire multiple Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) assigned to different Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs) within our Developmental Services Division, providing care to adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. The ideal candidates will have more than one (1) year of experience in the specialty of ICF/Group Home Nursing and Long-Term care.

- Responsible for contributing to the biological, psychological, and social assessment of clients.
- Assist with the development and implementation of health-related components of the Individual Program Plan (IPP).
- Collaborate with members of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and other healthcare professionals in the community.
- Within the scope of practice, the nurse provides technical support to non-licensed staff regarding health care services and medication administration.
- At the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor, the LPN will assess, implement, and evaluate the individual’s healthcare needs for all acute and chronic healthcare conditions.
- Participate in trainings, meetings, and participate in community engagements to further support the individuals residing in the ICF.
- Communicate in an effective, respectful, professional manner using methods easily understood by all parties involved.
- Maintain current certification for Licensed Practical Nursing in the state of Virginia; maintain CPR and defensive driving throughout employment with the City of Virginia Beach.

The City offers a generous $3,000 hiring bonus for new hires of original full-time employment or reemployment as defined in Human Resources Policy No. 5.0.
- $500 will be awarded in the first paycheck.
- $1,000 will be awarded upon completion of the six-month interim performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.
- $1,500 will be awarded upon completion of the employee’s one-year probationary period and a performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.
