Position: Stepdown Unit Registered Nurse (RN) in Virginia Beach, VA
Stepdown RNs are essential in providing specialized care for patients transitioning from critical to intermediate care. This contract role is well-suited for professionals experienced in Stepdown or progressive care environments, ready to make a meaningful impact through expert clinical skills and compassionate patient support.

Qualifications and

Experience:

• Active RN license with eligibility to practice
• Minimum of 1 year recent experience in a Stepdown or Progressive Care setting (required)
• Advanced knowledge of monitoring telemetry and interpreting cardiac rhythms
• Expertise in managing post-ICU patients with complex medical needs
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and assess patient conditions, identifying changes that require intervention
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and best practices
• Manage patient care plans and ensure continuity from critical care through to discharge or transfer
• Record observations, interventions, and patient progress in electronic medical records
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families during recovery
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other nursing team members to optimize outcomes
• Follow all facility protocols and safety standards
• Adhere to all infection control policies and patient confidentiality guidelines
