Position: Registered Nurse - RN (The Hoy Center)

Location

3100 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, VA.

Reports To

Director of Nursing.

FLSA Status

Non‑Exempt (Hourly).

Schedule

Full‑Time, Night Shift (7pm‑7am). 3 days one week, 4 days the next, with an every‑other weekend rotation.

What You’ll Do
  • Recognize and inform the appropriate physician of significant changes in the resident’s health status and any adverse reaction(s) to medication.
  • Maintain medication and resident’s records.
  • Participate in resident assessment and care planning reviews and revise residents’ assessments and care plans.
  • Ensure problems and complaints involving nursing services are reported to the Team Leader in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Communicate and coordinate care with residents and their families/significant others.
  • Document and lead others in the documentation of resident care.
  • Direct, participate and/or assist staff in delivering care.
  • Check for appropriate amount and condition of equipment and supplies; order supplies and equipment as necessary.
  • Support and participate in facility quality assurance programs.
  • Ensure that unit practices are consistent with regulatory requirements.
  • Review, transcribe and implement physician orders.
  • Practice and ensure staff adheres to infection control measures.
  • Participate in continuing education programs to maintain competency.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Core Competencies
  • Supportive and compassionate (to both patients and nursing staff).
  • Regularly exercises sound and professional judgment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb stairs, stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Required Experience
  • Active, unencumbered RN license in the State of Virginia (or compact).
  • A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Proficiency with all software applications and systems utilized in The Hoy Center.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Flu‑vaccinated.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with the senior population.
Compensation

Hourly wage: $42.00 – $45.00 per hour (commensurate with experience) plus a night‑time differential.
