Job DutiesWe are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and engaging Memory Care Activities Assistant who is a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team in the Memory Care Neighborhood at Jones & Cabacoy Veteran Care Center. This role is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our Veterans living with memory loss by providing meaningful engagement, emotional support, and structured daily activities.
Schedule: M-F 2:00pm-10:00pm including availability for weekends/holidays as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate and lead daily activities tailored to memory care residents (games, music, sensory activities, small group programs, etc.)
- Provide one‑on‑one engagement and companionship to residents
- Assist with daily routines and support a calm, structured environment
- Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary teams to meet resident needs
- Escort residents to and from activities and appointments as needed
- Help create a safe, welcoming, and therapeutic environment

Minimum Qualifications
- Current licensed Certified Nursing Assistant.
- Experience with music therapy, art, crafts, or movement‑based activities.
- Familiarity with dementia behaviors, redirection techniques, and safety protocols.
- Experience working with seniors, especially in memory care or dementia support is a plus.
- Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
- Compassion for and commitment to serving our Veteran population.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Flexible and reliable, including availability for weekends/holidays as needed.
- Compassion and patience to support residents experiencing confusion, anxiety, or behavioral changes with calm, steady reassurance.
- Strong communication skills, speaks clearly, listens well, and adapts communication style for residents with cognitive decline.
- Engaging and creative personality enjoys leading activities, encouraging participation, and bringing positive energy into the environment.
- Dependability shows up consistently, follows routines, and maintains a stable presence for residents who rely on predictability.
- Team oriented mindset collaborates well with nurses, activity staff, and families.

Excluding current DVS employees, the selected candidate must pass a criminal background check.
