Overview
The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice—assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation—along with the standards of professional performance—ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health—encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
The RN possesses the clinical knowledge and skills required for specific clinical areas.

Full‑time (36 hours/week) – Night Shift (7 PM – 7 AM)
Department OverviewWe are a varied Med/Surg mixed unit caring for a broad range of medical patients, including oncological patients, CHF, COPD, sepsis, pneumonia, diabetes, sickle cell, and end‑of‑life cases. Staff gain experience with wound vacs, high‑risk medication infusions, telemetry, trach care, chest tubes, peritoneal dialysis, and more. Teamwork and innovative ideas are encouraged, and staff are invited to join hospital committees.
Qualifications- Education:
RN‑Associate’s Degree, RN‑Bachelor’s Degree, RN‑Diploma, or RN‑Master’s Degree (Required) - License:
Virginia or Compact Multi‑State License in good standing (Required) - Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire (Required)
- Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire (Required)
