Registered Nurse (RN), Float Pool for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynecology practice providing expert nursing care to women across the reproductive lifespan, focusing on high-risk pregnancies and complex OB/GYN conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate patient care in the clinic setting.
- Recognize medical situations specific to Maternal Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Correlate the patient’s clinical history with fetal monitoring results and identified signs and symptoms of maternal/fetal compromise, and institute appropriate nursing actions for referral.
- Perform antepartum fetal testing including non‑stress testing and contraction stress testing.
- Determine the technical adequacy of each test and independently assess appropriateness of each patient’s testing based on established policies and protocols.
- Recognize normal versus abnormal results, prepare accurate readable reports, and contact physicians when necessary.
- Coordinate additional care for antepartum patients, including follow-up testing or procedures, scheduling, physician orders, and hospital admissions.
- Perform nurse intakes for new obstetrical patients.
- Serve as a positive role model and demonstrate a professional, caring attitude toward co‑workers, patients, and guests.
- Monitor task queues and contact patients with test results.
- Answer the triage line, record calls, and return patient and physician calls in a timely manner.
Education & Experience:
- Graduation from an NLN accredited school of nursing with RN required; BSN preferred.
- Minimum one year clinical experience caring for high‑risk obstetric patients; preferred one year experience in fetal monitoring.
- Valid Virginia license as a Professional Registered Nurse.

- Communicate honestly with others and comply with all EVMS/EVMS Medical Group policies and procedures.
- Apply basic algebra and statistical analysis to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.
