As a Shortage Control Lead you will mitigate theft and fraud in high shortage areas while promoting a safe and secure store environment. You will engage with customers and associates in a manner consistent with our core values, providing a strong and energetic greeting with eye contact and a smile.

The Shortage Control Lead is a valuable partner to store and field leadership, assisting in training and developing Shortage Control Associates, identifying and reporting theft incidents, and driving shortage education and awareness to all associates. Confidence, a positive attitude, command presence, and expertise in store shortage reduction programs will influence behaviors and reduce theft and fraud.

• Provide an effective deterrent to dishonest behaviors throughout the store by demonstrating a command presence through role modeling, dress code compliance, a positive demeanor, strong posture, and an energetic greeting.
• Maintain a safe and secure store for customers and associates with strong attention to detail, multitasking, communication, and partnership with store leadership.
• Enthusiastically engage every customer and associate in high‑risk areas, fostering a respectful interaction that promotes control and best‑in‑class service.
• Display a working knowledge of top shortage areas and support programs designed to reduce theft.
• Gather and document indicators of external theft, share with leaders, network with local law enforcement, and support evidence gathering for large‑scale or organized retail crime.
• Support the store manager with internal controls and operational oversight, including package/bag checks, point‑of‑sale monitoring, audits, and promotion of Asset Protection programs.
• Lead onboarding and ongoing training of associates in shortage reduction programs and processes.
• Assist store leadership in preparing and executing the semi‑annual inventory process and developing action plans to reduce shortage.
• Model safety behaviors and prioritize safety at all times.
• Remain highly disciplined when managing stressful situations and address unsafe practices promptly.
