The Police Patrol Officer I will safeguard the life, safety, and security of the property across the Regent University and Christian Broadcasting Network through the delivery of a comprehensive and integrated program of safety and law enforcement services in partnership with the community, along with local, state, and federal Public Safety agencies. The Police Patrol Officer I delivers comprehensive law enforcement and public safety services, ensuring the protection of lives, safety, and security for the Regent University and Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) community. This role is committed to preserving life, protecting property, and upholding the mission of Regent University Police Department through proactive patrols, rapid emergency response, crime prevention initiatives, and meaningful community engagement, all while serving with integrity and excellence.
The officer, serving as a front-line representative of the Regent University Police Department, works alongside Regent University and CBN partners, local, state, and federal public safety partners, in addition to students, faculty, staff, and visitors, to maintain a welcoming, safe, and secure campus atmosphere.

Essential duties:
The Police Patrol Officer I performs a full range of law enforcement and public safety duties to protect life, property, and the mission of Regent University and the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Law Enforcement & Emergency Response
* Provide public safety by maintaining order, enforcing criminal and traffic laws, and ensuring the security of persons and property within the Regent/CBN community.
* Respond promptly to radio calls for service, including 911 emergencies, panic and burglar alarms, medical calls, and other urgent and routine incidents.
* Identify, pursue, apprehend, and arrest suspects or perpetrators of criminal activity, ensuring compliance with constitutional and statutory requirements.
* Render immediate aid as a first responder, including administering first aid to accident victims or persons in medical crisis.
Patrol & Crime Prevention
* Conduct proactive vehicle, bicycle, and foot patrols to deter and detect crime, monitor traffic and pedestrian safety, and promote a visible public safety presence.
* Monitor, report, and investigate suspicious activity, safety hazards, and unusual incidents within assigned patrol areas.
* Provide perimeter security, access control, and protective services for designated high-profile facilities, including the Chairman's residence, Operation Blessing Warehouse, and CBN/Regent executive areas.
Investigations & Case Management
* Submit initial complaints, and follow up reports ensuring accurate incident timelines, documented case dispositions, and appropriate victim and witness services in accordance with constitutional and departmental standards. Confirms all elements are properly recorded to support a lawful investigation.
* Coordinate with internal units and external law enforcement partners; assess threats, develop investigation.
* Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations of criminal incidents, traffic crashes, and campus safety concerns.
* Interview witnesses, victims, and suspects; document statements; and collect and preserve evidence through photography, diagrams, and reports.
* Identify suspects and missing persons based on BOLOs or intelligence disseminated by law enforcement agencies or departmental briefings.
* Direct and conduct trauma-informed interviews and interrogations of victims, witnesses, and suspects; elicit accurate, reliable statements that support case objectives and comply with constitutional safeguards.
* Oversee case development and documentation, including composing affidavits, obtaining judicial authorizations, and preparing prosecution-ready case files, ensuring evidentiary integrity and procedural compliance.
* Manage case file in preparation to testify in judicial proceedings as required.
Community Engagement & Professional Partnerships
* Foster positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and visitors through community policing and routine assistance.
* Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies on joint investigations, bordering property concerns, and mutual aid response.
* Act as liaison and escort for Fire, EMS, and outside law enforcement agencies during on-campus operations.
Specialized Duties & Support Functions
* Monitor and validate campus identification badges, decals, and authorized access to facilities.
