Armed Security Officer- Part time

Overview

Sentara Princess Anne Hospital – Virginia Beach, VA– Armed Security Officer (Part‑time, Rotating Shifts)

• Provide a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
• Exercise discretion regarding the use of a weapon, using it only when all non‑violent options have been exhausted.
• Actively monitor Concealed Weapons Detection System(s) at division entrances; inform visitors/patients of prohibited weapons; secure weapons for safekeeping.
• Patrol campus, monitor activity in and around buildings and grounds, and respond appropriately to routine and emergency situations.
• Perform camera surveillance, maintain department logs and records, use computer skills for documentation of daily activities, conduct security investigations, evaluate situations, and take appropriate steps for professional and timely resolution.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required).
• Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (Required).
• One year of security experience (Required). Former military, law enforcement, or security officer experience preferred.
• Fit for Duty assessment and passage of psychological evaluation and assessment conducted by the Sentara selected service provider.
• Virginia Department of Corrections – Armed Officer Certificate within 90 days of hire (Required).
• Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) certification by the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) within 90 days of hire (Required).
