Overview
Location:
Atlantic Shores Retirement Community, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. Position Type:
Full Time. Salary Range: $16.00 - $19.20 hourly. The Security Guard role supports a secure community with a single controlled entrance staffed around the clock and roaming security staff onsite to respond to emergencies. The position offers nights and flexible hours. Earn competitive pay based on experience, with additional compensation as outlined below.
- Hourly employees: 1.5x Holiday Pay; 1.5x Overtime Pay for hours over 40 per week
- Full-time employees:

The Security Guard, in accordance with established policies and procedures, provides security/safety for all residents and staff. The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring safety and security, responding to apartment alarms/emergencies, assisting nursing staff with lifting residents to a safe position, and performing site and perimeter security rounds. This position reports to the Security Supervisor.
Responsibilities- Greets and directs guests, vendors, employees, and residents upon entry; screens each vehicle and person for authorization.
- Conducts routine rounds of the property and buildings as assigned.
- Keeps all areas secure and assists with unlocks as required.
- Writes detailed and accurate reports using computer applications during each shift, aligned with Supervisor instructions and daily orders.
- Responds to emergency situations and coordinates medical responses within the community between ASCA EMTs and local first responders.
- Familiar with fire alarm system elements and essential building systems to perform minor maintenance under instruction (e.g., opening/closing valves, turning switches).
- High school education; or one-year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must hold a current VA driver’s license.
- Excellent customer service skills, patience, and ability to meet diverse personal needs.
- Clear communication skills with a team-based mindset.
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
