SUMMARY:
The Commercial Roofing Repair Laborer assists with the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial roofing systems. This role requires physical endurance, attention to safety, and the ability to work in various weather conditions laborer supports roofing crews by preparing job sites, loading/unloading materials, and performing general labor tasks to ensure the project runs efficiently and safely.
Our search is currently limited to qualified candidates living within the Hampton Roads commuting area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the removal of existing roofing systems including built-up, single-ply, metal, and modified bitumen.
- Prepare roof surfaces by cleaning, sweeping, and applying adhesives or primers as needed.
- Transport and stage roofing materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.
- Lay down roofing insulation, membranes, and cover boards in accordance with manufacturer specifications and project requirements.
- Operate hand and power tools such as screw guns, torches, roofing kettles, and rollers.
- Assist with the installation of flashing, metal edging, and other roof components.
- Perform job site clean-up and debris removal to maintain a safe and organized work area.
- Follow all job, company, and OSHA safety guidelines and protocols including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work cooperatively with other crew members and take direction from the foreman or superintendent.
- Attend required safety meetings and training sessions.
- Must not be afraid of heights.
- Ability to read and use tape measures.
- Must be able to work in a COLD or HOT environment.
- Maintain professional interaction with all customers.
- Must reside within commuting distance of our main office in Virginia Beach, VA.
- This is an in-person, on-site position.
- NEED TO BE ABLE TO OBTAIN BASE ACCESS FOR ONGOING PROJECTS!
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in commercial roofing or general construction is preferred.
- Basic understanding of roofing systems, materials, and construction site safety practices.
- Basic knowledge and use of common hand tools required.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be punctual and reliable.
- Must be organized and have an eye for detail.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Ability to lift 50-100 lbs. regularly and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to perform job duties while standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, balancing, and climbing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and on sloped surfaces.
- This position involves work at a construction site where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
- Overtime may be required from time to time to meet project deadlines.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers.
- Comfortable working on roofs at varying height and multiple stories.
- Negotiable - depending on experience
- Paid Weekly on Fridays (Mon thru Sun Work Week) w/ paystubs emailed.
- Health, Dental & Vision Insurance - Eligible after 30 Days, Enrolled on 1st of month - 50% of employee rate paid for employee for Health & Dental only.
- 401(k) - w/ employer match up to 3% of annual income after (1) year of employment.
- Paid Time Off (8 Days) - New Year, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, & Christmas + 2 additional days, usually utilized at Christmas and Thanksgiving
- Earned Leave (Vacation/Sick) - 80 Total Hours Accrued Annually
- Vacation (24 hours annually, accrued at 0.47 hours a week) - never expires, but caps at 24 hours.
- Sick (up to 56 hours annually, accrued at 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked) - never expires, but caps at 56 hours.
- Aflac - Available for employees to take advantage of/supplement insurance at additional expense
- New York Life Insurance - Available for employees to take advantage of/supplement insurance at additional expense
