Position: Facilities Technician I or Facilities Technician II-Virginia Beach,VA

Job Summary

Dominion Energy's Facilities Management group is hiring a Facilities Technician I or II to perform building maintenance at Substations, Microwave Towers, POP sites, and Solar Facilities across the southwestern and south‑central operating territories. The role involves preventative maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and installation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire, and emergency standby power systems independently. The successful candidate will work on-site, travel 76–100% of the time, and occasionally work overtime or respond to after‑hours emergencies.

Responsibilities – Technician I
  • Assist in evaluating building and equipment conditions to provide repair solutions or improvement recommendations.
  • Manage external vendors to ensure compliance with internal policies, OSHA regulations, and federal, state, or local code requirements.
  • Test, inspect, and maintain environmental or life safety systems to meet federal, state, and local compliance regulations.
Additional Responsibilities – Technician II
  • Provide technical guidance and training to peers regarding equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Evaluate building and equipment conditions to provide repair solutions or improvement recommendations.
  • Manage small O&M or capital improvement projects.
  • Manage external vendors to ensure compliance with internal policies, OSHA regulations, and federal, state, or local code requirements.
  • Test, inspect, and maintain environmental or life safety systems to meet federal, state, and local compliance regulations.
Qualifications – Technician I
  • 1+ year of directly related experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or a relevant trade.
  • Basic knowledge of building construction, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire systems, engineering principles, and environmental & life safety compliance regulations.
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems with guidance from senior technicians.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to evaluate building or equipment condition and provide repair solutions to leadership.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team, maintain multiple facilities across a large geographic territory, work overtime, and respond to after‑hours emergencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency with personal computers, Microsoft applications, and work management systems such as SAP.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Preferred EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (Type I, II, III).
Qualifications – Technician II
  • 5+ years of directly related experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or a relevant trade.
  • Expert knowledge of building construction, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire systems, engineering principles, and environmental & life safety compliance regulations.
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems independently.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to evaluate building or equipment condition and provide repair solutions to leadership.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team, maintain multiple facilities across a large geographic territory, work overtime, and respond to after‑hours emergencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency with personal computers, Microsoft applications, and work management systems such as SAP.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Journeyman HVAC or Electrician Tradesman License through the Virginia DPOR;
    Master HVAC or Electrician Tradesman License through the Virginia DPOR preferred.
  • EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (Type I, II, III).
Additional Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required;
    Associate degree in technology, construction, or engineering preferred.
  • Completion of a formal HVAC or Electrical apprenticeship program preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Travel 76–100% of the time.
  • Up to 25% office work.
