Entry Level Engineer – HVAC Controls and Building Automation Systems (BAS) (Federal Systems team, Pentagon)

We are seeking an entry level engineer who has a desire to learn and grow in the exciting field of HVAC Controls and Building Automation Systems (BAS) to join our Federal Systems team based at the Pentagon. This role is focused on supporting the Pentagon’s energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.

Pay: $40.00-$50.00 per hour to start with milestone pay increases. Negotiable based on experience.

Vehicle:
Company vehicle and gas card provided. Shift: Day shift, 6:30am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday. Benefits:
Eligible for benefits on the first day of employment. Vacation: 3 weeks paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, and 10 standard holidays per year. Travel:
Limited – primary work at the Pentagon with some initial travel for training.

• Conduct self-study and instructor-led training to improve technical proficiency in Johnson Controls product lines and systems; complete required certifications.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, point-to-point checkouts, troubleshooting, and replacement of HVAC controls systems (BAS) and related light commercial mechanical equipment, primarily Johnson Controls Metasys and Distech controls.
• Diagnose and repair electronic and digital control system malfunctions.
• Test and modify system software as needed.
• Assist with sketching and documenting field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings.
• Provide training and documentation to customers on electronic control system operations.
• Assist mechanical staff with troubleshooting and minor mechanical maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with company, federal regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements.
• Compile project documentation, including certificate of completion, customer training forms, certifications, and punch lists.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational manuals.
• Adhere to Johnson Controls and customer safety standards; provide safety awareness instruction to technicians and subcontractors on work sites.

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, HVAC, or Industrial).
• U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances.

• Experience with HVAC mechanical equipment or HVAC controls (Direct Digital Controls), VAV, VRF, or related systems.
• Knowledge of electronic or digital controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.
• Technical knowledge of Johnson Controls Metasys, Tridium Niagara, or Distech Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.
• Programming and/or troubleshooting experience with HVAC controls brands such as Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, Delta, Distech, Carrier, ALC, Andover.
• Experience with BAS communication protocols (BACnet MSTP, BACnet IP, N2, P1, Modbus, LON).
• Experience using SMP, SCT, or CCT.
