Job Duties and
Preferred Qualifications:
Public Works Facilities is hiring a Carpenter to perform maintenance, repairs, renovations, and construction on City-owned commercial and municipal buildings and facilities.
This position may be filled as a Carpenter I, Carpenter II, or Carpenter III, depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Duties include:
Perform general maintenance, preventative maintenance, repairs, renovations, and construction on City buildings and facilities.
Repair furniture, doors, windows, roofing systems, locks, door closers, panic hardware, siding, cornice, cabinets, countertops, laminate, and solid surface materials.
Install and repair doors, windows, commercial locks, and hardware.
Perform framing, trim work, cabinetry, flooring, roofing, siding, concrete forming and pouring, and brick paver installation.
Operate pressure-washing equipment and a variety of hand and power tools while following all safety procedures.
Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
Complete daily work orders, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports and cost estimates for labor and materials.
Coordinate with planners and staff during oceanfront events, as assigned.
Maintain clean vehicles and job sites while providing excellent customer service.
Carpenter III employees may direct the work of subordinate carpenters, coordinate work assignments, oversee contractors, and ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal building codes.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
Carpenter I
Minimum Qualifications:
High school or vocational school, or GED, plus two (2) years in fields such as framing, trim, cornice, siding, cabinetry that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
Carpenter II
Minimum Qualifications:
High School, or GED, plus four (4) years’ experience in carpentry work in the capacity of General Carpenter, Floor Covering Installer, Roofer, Framer, or Form Carpenter; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
Carpenter III
Minimum Qualifications:
High School or GED plus six (6) years’ experience in carpentry work in the capacity of general carpenter, floor covering installer, roofer, framer, or form carpenter; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license
