Position Overview

Check Defense is a fast-growing federal contractor seeking a Combatant Craft Medium (CCM) Mechanic to provide maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and logistical support for Combatant Craft Medium platforms and associated support equipment in support of Naval Special Warfare (NSW) operations. The CCM Mechanic maintains diesel propulsion systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, generators, trailers, and mission support equipment while ensuring operational readiness of assigned craft and deployment assets.

This position supports government personnel in vessel preparation, transportation, contingency operations, and maintenance management activities across both continental and overseas locations. The successful candidate will perform complex mechanical inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and operational support while maintaining compliance with technical publications, engineering specifications, and safety requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide diagnostics support, troubleshooting support, and repair to the following equipment:
    Diesel engines (Motoren-und Turbinen-Union (MTU) Preferred), reduction gears, auxiliaries, propulsion systems, including their subassemblies such as engine electronic/electrical systems, fuel systems, lubrication systems, starting systems, steering systems, electrical distribution system, bilge dewatering systems, cooling systems, fire suppression, and hydraulic systems for the CCM, prime mover, trailer, and associated equipment.
  • Assist and provide technical recommendations to the Government regarding CCM maintenance and repair. Focus on providing technical assessments and recommendations for the craft's Preventive Maintenance System.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures, repair and maintain diesel and gasoline engines, adjust and repair ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and steering systems.
  • Be capable of performing repairs in both a shipyard and workshop environment as required.
  • Coordinate with Troop or Maintenance Department Chain of Command (COC) on all matters concerning CCM safe engineering and operating procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Active SECRET Security Clearance.
  • Blueprint and schematic reading.
  • Working knowledge of military publications, technical instructions, and engineering/electrical illustrations related to repair procedures and operations.
