Job Duties and

Preferred Qualifications:

The Virginia Beach Human Services Department is seeking candidates for the position of Human Services Supervisor I (HSSI) in the Permanency Programs Unit. The Permanency program includes Foster Care and Adoptions Programs. This position provides direct supervision for Family Services Specialist assigned to the Foster Care.

Duties:

After normal business hours Foster Care supervisory coverage on a rotating basis.

Provide supportive supervision for family services specialist staff members assigned to permanency programs.

Provide supervision for a minimum of five Family Services Specialist.

Daily leadership, supervision, direction, planning, monitoring, and evaluation of work activities and caseload assignments in the Foster Care program.

Supervise the foster care cases from intake through reunification or adoption.

Ensure that Family Services Specialist engage families from a strengths-based perspective with an emphasis on family engagement and working towards reunification and permanency.

Utilize Safe Measures to monitor case work activities throughout the life of a case.

Utilizes OASIS database to review case records, ensuring that appropriate services and treatment are provided to youth and documented accordingly.

Participates in professional interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.

Assist with the development and training of department staff on client service planning.

Facilitate family team meetings to build a positive rapport with the children and families.

Monitor case work activities to ensure that foster care plans are based on the individual strengths and needs of each family and child.

Responsible for hiring and performing annual performance appraisals for all positions under supervision.

Lead and/or participate in state, regional, and community initiatives as requested.

Promote awareness of HSD programs in the community.

Follow federal, state, and local guidelines associated with child safety, well-being, and permanency.

Provide after normal business hours foster care services on a rotating basis.

Assist social work team members in the community as needed.

Records management to ensure that cases are documented within 24 hours and referrals are closed within program procedures and guidelines.

Assist in continuous quality improvement reviews and data collection.

Collect, evaluate, and analyze program data and provide recommendations to department leadership through timely reports.

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:30pmAnd here's the exciting part - the selected candidate will qualify for a $3,000 hiring bonus!

Hiring bonuses shall only be for new hires of original employment or reemployment as defined in Human Resources Policy No. 5.0.$500 will be awarded in the first paycheck $1,000 will be awarded upon completion of the six (6) month interim performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”$1,500 will be awarded upon completion of the employee’s one (1) year probationary period and a performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”Preferences:
