Salary: $46,234.00 – $59,486.00 Annually
DescriptionResponsible for assisting with the planning, development, and implementation of the annual budget as part of a team. Develop working papers for assigned funds. Assist in preparation of the annual budget by coordinating department/agency submissions utilizing a county-wide network. Analyze departmental budget requests, assist with the coordination and publication of budget documents, and monitor departmental budgets. Identify and resolve budget problems, inform appropriate staff of inefficiencies, and work with them on maintaining and reviewing proper budgetary controls.
Build rewarding relationships with departments to support problem solving and process improvements. Prepare appropriation entries as approved by the Board of Supervisors in the county accounting system; review and reconcile the annual approved appropriations to the accounting system on a monthly basis.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field and some experience in general accounting, preferably governmental accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Applicants with a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in general accounting, preferably governmental accounting, including some budgetary experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for Budget Analyst II with a base salary of $50,970.
- General knowledge of governmental accounting, auditing, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- General knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and governmental accounting standards.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Personal computer experience using Microsoft Office. Experience using website content management software and Tyler Munis financial software desired.
Position requires attending meetings after normal business hours and may require work beyond a 40‑hour week during high demand periods, especially during budget season (January – May).
Physical DemandsMust be physically able to operate automated office machines, including computers and calculators. May need to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involving sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing.
