Pay $70,000 - $77,000

The Controller manages day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance for Southwestern Community Action Council, Inc. (SCAC, Inc.). The Controller will perform duties consistently with funding agency guidelines in carrying out the fiscal responsibilities of the agency. The Controller reports directly to the CEO.

• BA Accounting, Finance, or a related field; non-profit experience preferred. 3-5 years supervisory experience in a business office.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record, good communication skills, knowledge of available resources, supervisory skills, self-motivated.

• Oversee the proper receipt, documentation, and disbursement of SCAC, Inc. funds
• Maintain all financial records in accordance with timetables that will ensure availability and readiness of such records for scheduled monitoring and audit examination.
• Coordinate the audit process and assist independent auditors as necessary
• Assist in resolution of audit exceptions and the implementation of auditor recommendations as they relate to specific programs
• Assure accurate and consistent recording and reporting for all programs.
• Comply with generally accepted accounting principles
• Prepare timely financial reports
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and internal control structure
• Maintain adequate cash flow
• Post standard and adjusting entries
• Oversee the reconciliation of agency bank accounts
• Develop and maintain chart of accounts
• Assist Board Finance Committee and program directors in developing annual budgets
• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and final reports for program funding agencies as required
• Review accounting manual periodically and make revisions when applicable
• Review and test internal controls periodically to ensure effectiveness of operations, reliability of financial reporting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Maintain capital assets and scheduling of depreciation
• Review and approve accounts payable vouchers for payment
• Supervise and train accounting support staff
• Required to maintain a cellular phone with voice, text and email capability.
