Payroll Processor
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing:
Collect, review, and verify employee timesheets, calculate wages, overtime, and deductions, and process payroll through ADP systems to ensure timely and accurate payments to employees (including direct deposits and physical checks). - Record Maintenance:
Maintain and update payroll records, employee files, and payroll reports, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. - Compliance:
Ensure payroll operations comply with federal, state, and local wage laws, tax regulations, and company policies, including handling garnishments, benefits deductions, and 401(k) contributions. - Employee Support:
Serve as the primary contact for payroll-related inquiries, resolving discrepancies, explaining tax with holdings, and issuing off-cycle payments if necessary. - HR Support:
Assist the HR department by responding to basic HR-related questions, directing employees to appropriate resources, and helping ensure employee inquiries are handled accurately, confidentially, and in a timely manner. - Reporting:
Prepare payroll reports for management, including summaries of payroll expenses, overtime, and other payroll metrics. - Collaboration:
Work closely with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate employee data, salary adjustments, terminations, and benefits administration. - Accounts Receivable:
Monitor outstanding balances, reconcile customer accounts, and follow up on past-due accounts to support accurate cash flow and timely collections.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in ADP payroll software, Microsoft Excel, and other accounting or HR systems. - Attention to Detail:
Strong numerical accuracy and organizational skills to manage sensitive payroll data. - Knowledge of Regulations:
Understanding of payroll laws, tax compliance, and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) - Experience:
Typically requires 1–2 years of payroll or bookkeeping experience, with familiarity in payroll processing and financial recordkeeping. - Soft Skills:
Discretion, trustworthiness, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication for interacting with employees and management.
Work Environment
- Operates in a professional office setting, often reporting to a HR Manager, and CFO
- Routine use of standard office equipment and payroll software.
- May involve handling confidential employee information and sensitive financial data.
