Our growing General Accounting Team is seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant to contribute advanced expertise in general ledger accounting and reconciliation processes. This position performs and reviews accounting activities related to general ledger accounts, payments, financial statements, budgeting, and financial analysis. The role analyzes receipts, disbursements, and journal entries within the accounting system and monitors, reconciles, and reports on records, transactions, and accounts.

This position processes program redeposits, reversals, and settlement corrections, and develops and performs highly complex general ledger  this position, you will:
• Perform all aspects of general ledger accounting including recording, processing, summarizing, reconciling, and reporting accounting transactions and data, and assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Develop highly complex financial reconciliations, analyze and communicate results to management, and prepare related schedules and supporting documentation used in internal and external reporting including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
• Process, program redeposits, reversals, and settlement corrections in accordance with established accounting policies and procedures
• Analyze and evaluate data recorded in various financial systems including financial and investment data reported by the agency’s financial institutions and master custodian, and prepare internal and external agency financial reports and related financial analysis
• Monitor evolving accounting guidance and work with the General Accounting Team and Finance management to interpret and implement Governmental Accounting Standards Board statements and other applicable accounting standards and practices
• Consult and train staff on reporting, reconciliation, and analysis tools as needed and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support compliance with accounting standards, processes, procedures, and policies

Successful candidates will have:
• Seven or more years of relevant work experience in governmental accounting, finance, or related field, with demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), budget practices, financial reporting, and general business processes; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered; CPA preferred
• Experience with the Commonwealth’s accounting procedures and policies preferred
