Overview
Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as a People, Culture & Belonging Intern.
Virginia Housing's HR Department is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern to join our dynamic team. This important role will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience assisting with inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA) initiatives by supporting data collection, research, training coordination, and employee engagement efforts aligned with organizational mission and values. The Intern will provide administrative and project support to People Operations and leadership teams, including meeting coordination, report preparation, and tracking deliverables across multiple initiatives and assist in coordinating with Virginia Housing program areas to support initiatives and activities connected to agency programs serving partners, communities, and residents across the Commonwealth.
The Intern will coordinate with a diverse range of community partners, stakeholders, and external organizations to support outreach, engagement, and collaborative efforts aligned with Virginia Housing's mission.

This is a paid internship that will run from July 2026 to June 2027. We gladly accept undergraduate students, graduate students, trade school students, individuals exiting the military, military spouses, and career-transitioning professionals.
To be successful in this role you must have:
* High school diploma or GED.
* A field of study, academic background, or demonstrated interest in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Sociology, Public Administration or Policy, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline is desired.
* Interest and passion for working in public service.
* Some experience working in a professional setting.
* Relevant internship, academic, volunteer, or work experience in human resources, administrative support, program coordination, data tracking, or people-centered initiatives.
* Cultural competence and the ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
* Experience working collaboratively and supporting belonging, inclusion or community engagement efforts is a plus.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear emails, summaries, and internal materials.
* Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
* High attention to detail, accuracy, and discretion when handling data, documentation, and confidential information.
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications.
* Basic data collection and tracking skills, including maintaining spreadsheets and supporting reports.
This is a hybrid (in-person & remote) position reporting to our Richmond VA office.
Interns can work up to 20 hours per week (September-May) and up to 40 hours per week during the Summer months (June
-August).
