Location: Berryville
Job Summary
We are seeking a Construction Engineer to join Wagman Geotechnical Services in Berryville, VA. The role involves scheduling, ordering, technical support, and quality control on construction sites. Travel is required throughout VA, DC, and MD.
Responsibilities- Develop and monitor detailed work plans for crews with field supervision.
- Create and update 3‑week crew schedules and provide weekly CPM schedule updates.
- Assist the Project Manager in coordinating work with designers, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
- Confirm receipt of materials and services, review invoices and timecards, and ensure correct cost codes are used.
- Review shop drawings, draft RFIs, maintain submittal logs, and provide technical support to supervisors and subcontractors.
- Monitor compliance with project safety, environmental, and quality control plans.
- Track production rates, resolve field construction problems, and provide daily quantities for payment.
- Assist in developing and updating utility matrices, document controls, final quantities, and project close‑out.
- Perform QA/QC testing such as pile load, soil nail verification, tie‑back testing, and related functions.
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering preferred (emphasis on Heavy Structural, Civil Roadway, and Geotechnical Foundations).
- Zero to four years of experience in geotechnical engineering, including testing, inspection, scheduling, quantity reporting, material purchasing, construction specifications, and coordination of subcontractors.
- Knowledge of software:
Word, Excel, Heavy Job, Heavy Bid, Viewpoint, OnBase, and CAD. - Valid driver’s license.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Lift up to 30 pounds from ground to waist level.
- Sit, squat, kneel, climb ladders, stand, and walk outdoors.
- Work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot, or humid weather.
- Have corrected vision and hearing.
