B&L Construction Inc is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Traveling Superintendent to oversee and coordinate all on-site activities for our construction projects. The Traveling Superintendent plays a critical role in ensuring the successful completion of projects by managing work quality, safety, schedules, and communication with all stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination:
    Review and coordinate all work on the job site to ensure project success.
  • Communication:
    Effectively communicate with the B&L Project Manager, subcontractors, material suppliers, and the client's team (management, administration, operations, and vendors).
  • Safety and Compliance:
    Implement and enforce job safety protocols and ensure compliance with government laws and regulations.
  • Construction Documents:
    Read and interpret construction documents such as plans, scopes of work, contract agreements, and operational manuals.
  • Quality Control:
    Inspect work in progress to ensure it complies with specifications and meets or exceeds the standards of our clients and B&L Construction.
  • Schedule Management:
    Review job progress, adjust tasks to keep the project on schedule, and plan ahead by coordinating contractors and material deliveries.
  • Documentation:
    Take daily and weekly photos, conduct weekly safety meetings, and complete weekly updates and reports.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Continue to learn the role and responsibilities of the position, increasing initiative from project to project.
Qualifications
  • Experience:

    Preferred experience in restaurant or retail construction, especially with national brands. Candidates with strong commercial construction backgrounds will also be considered.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Ability to perform basic math and accurately use measuring tools and standard hand tools.
  • Proficiency with computers and smartphones for daily reporting, email communication, project documentation, and correspondence.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from construction plans and blueprints.
  • Communication:
    Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Project Understanding:
    Ability to understand project scopes, timelines, and deliverables, along with the expectations of both the company and the client.
  • Professionalism:
    Must maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions and present a respectful, reliable, and trustworthy demeanor.
  • Integrity:
    Open and honest communication ensures issues can be addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Licensing and Transportation: A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Travel:
    Frequent travel is required, as this role oversees multiple out-of-town restaurant build projects.
