Under the general direction of the Project Manager, the Superintendent will supervise, coordinate and schedule maintenance activities and Union Craft Labor in compliance with contracts, cost estimates, safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Maintain excellent relationships with clients, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and public stakeholders.
- Ensure all work is conducted safely, in compliance with safety and quality regulations.
- Assist in developing, monitoring and updating project schedules; enforce subcontractor compliance with master schedules.
- Create detailed look‑ahead schedules with subcontractors and develop recovery strategies when schedule or budget concerns arise.
- Plan, supervise, and approve work of own forces and subcontractors, determining construction methods, manpower levels, materials, tools, equipment, rentals, and work schedules.
- Assume responsibility for trade productivity, efficient material and equipment use, and contractual performance.
- Ensure trades personnel complete required training in safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation and owner-specified requirements.
- Ensure construction complies with drawings, specifications, Field Work Packages (FWPs), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and project schedule and budget.
- Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants and other contractors.
- Maintain proper field documentation including safety records, daily progress reports, training records, T&E and rental records, manpower reports, owner support requests, FWP documents, etc.
- Participate in basic layout, preparation of work instructions, field engineering activities, and maintain lines and levels to verify as-built conditions.
- Education:
technical college diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience. - Minimum 5 years of construction and subcontractor supervision experience in the nuclear industry.
- Prior HVAC and duct installation/supervision experience preferred.
- Ability to supervise a construction project, with knowledge of construction technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements, jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling and safety requirements.
- Strong communication, organizational and supervisory skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to read and understand CGC Cost Reports.
- Basic presentation skills.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds and access lifts as required.
- Report to work on time and be Fit For Duty (FFD).
