This role serves as the primary field leader and trusted partner to the Vice President, overseeing crews of up to eight team members on commercial and industrial foundation drilling projects. The Foreman leads day-to-day operations on site, ensures work is completed safely and efficiently, and coordinates all field activities including equipment operation, workload delegation, and documentation. The position requires strong leadership, heavy equipment operating experience, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints while maintaining a clear focus on safety and project timelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise field crews of up to eight team members on commercial and industrial foundation drilling projects.
• Act as the VP's right hand in the field, providing updates, feedback, and support to ensure successful project execution.
• Read and interpret blueprints and project plans to guide drilling and foundation construction activities.
• Delegate tasks and workloads effectively to crew members to maintain productivity and meet project deadlines.
• Operate heavy equipment, including excavators, skid steers, mini excavators, and drilling equipment, as needed.
• Monitor and enforce safety procedures and maintain a strong safety mindset across all site activities.
• Track and report crew hours accurately and maintain detailed daily logs of work performed and site conditions.
• Attend daily planning meetings to review project progress, upcoming tasks, and resource needs.
• Coordinate with project management to align field operations with overall project goals and schedules.
• Ensure foundation drilling and construction work meets quality standards and complies with civil construction specifications.
• Support equipment operation planning and logistics to ensure machinery is used efficiently and maintained properly.
• Communicate clearly with crew members, supervisors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and keep projects on track.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 3+ years of Foreman or leadership experience in construction or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 3+ years of heavy equipment operating experience, including excavators, skid steers, mini excavators, and drilling equipment.
• Proven leadership ability with experience directing and motivating crews on active job sites.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with crew members, project management, and leadership.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans accurately.
• Hands-on experience with foundation drilling and foundation construction.
• Civil construction experience, particularly in site work and foundation-related projects.
• Solid understanding of project management concepts as they apply to field operations.
• Demonstrated safety mindset and adherence to established safety procedures and protocols.
• Proficiency in operating and overseeing a variety of heavy construction equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OSHA-related safety training or certification.
• Experience maintaining daily logs and documenting hours and site activities.
• Ability to participate in and contribute to daily planning meetings.
• Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced field environment.
• Capability to travel to various job sites within the region as required.

Work Environment

This position is based on active construction sites and involves working Monday through Friday from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Projects are located across multiple areas, including Lynchburg, Roanoke, Charlottesville, Richmond, Virginia Beach, Hampton, and Newport News, requiring regular travel between sites. The work environment is outdoors and field-based, centered around civil construction and foundation drilling operations. Daily activities involve operating and working around heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, mini excavators, and drilling rigs, with a strong emphasis on safety practices and adherence to site procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Sandston, VA.

Pay and Benefits
