Overview

Steel Estimator (miscellaneous steel) for a well-established steel fabrication and erection company. The role focuses on providing accurate and competitive estimates for miscellaneous metals to support project acquisition and execution.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Steel Estimator to join our team. This position emphasizes miscellaneous steel projects within construction operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in steel and miscellaneous metals, and a proven track record in project estimation.

• Analyses blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
• Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Conduct special studies to develop standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
• Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
• Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
• Accurately input costs for proposals and generate detailed estimates from drawings for small to large miscellaneous metal projects.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Steel Estimator or in a similar role in the construction industry.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with steel and miscellaneous metals.
• Proficiency in blueprint reading and project estimation.
• Ability to determine material and labor costs accurately.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach.
• Proficiency in using computer software for developing estimates.
• A degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• Certification from a recognized professional body is a plus.
