Description
- Responsible for promoting the events, services, and resources of the County Libraries.
- Produces a variety of promotional materials for the library using graphic design and publishing software.
- Manages social media accounts for the library.
- Assists with layout, development, and evaluation of marketing tools and content, including newsletters, editorials, flyers, TV slides, presentations, and other marketing materials.
- Writes and edits compelling copy for different platforms and publications, while maintaining a consistent and appropriate tone for the library.
- Serves as the Library’s social media manager; designs social media graphics and campaigns to promote library events, services, and resources. In consultation with Library leadership, responds to social media questions and comments as necessary.
- Provides publications and graphics support to other library staff as requested, ensuring all publications comply with current design standards.
- Photographs events and regular activities at the library for marketing purposes.
Any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; bachelor’s degree in a field related to communication, journalism, or public relations is preferred.
Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Must be able to work weekends and evenings, as required.
This job is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment checks to include criminal history, background, and DMV record checks.
Supplemental Information- Thorough knowledge of social media marketing principles and strategies.
- Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and accepted journalistic usage.
- Thorough knowledge of personal computers and software applications including word processing, graphic design, desktop publishing, and spreadsheet software.
- General knowledge of photography and basic videography techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both the public and other employees.
- Ability to analyze work procedures and exercise sound judgment in establishing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to provide courteous and professional customer service.
The earliest start date for this position is July 13, 2026.
Physical DemandsMust be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including office equipment such as computers, copiers, etc.
