Virginia Dental & Anesthesia Associates seeks a Dental Hygienist to provide high-quality preventive care in a specialized anesthesia practice. You’ll deliver prophylaxis, scaling/root planing, periodontal maintenance, radiographs, and oral health education while collaborating with dentists and anesthesia providers to support sedated and special-needs patients. The role emphasizes patient safety, meticulous infection control, and strong communication with a compassionate, professional team. - Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and periodontal maintenance
- Obtain and interpret dental radiographs following safety protocols
- Conduct comprehensive periodontal and oral health assessments
- Educate patients and caregivers on oral hygiene, prevention, and post-op care
- Collaborate with dentists and anesthesia providers to support sedated cases
- Maintain strict infection control, sterilization, and OSHA compliance
- Document findings, treatment, and patient notes accurately in the record
- Monitor and support patient comfort and safety before and after procedures
- Assist with case preparation and room turnover for anesthesia-supported visits
- Participate in continuing education and team training to maintain high clinical standards
- Dental prophylaxis and polishing
- Scaling and root planing (SRP)
- Periodontal charting and assessment
- Dental radiography (digital preferred)
- Local anesthesia administration
- Infection control and sterilization protocols
- Electronic dental records/documentation
- Patient and caregiver oral health education
- Working with sedated or anxious patients
- Collaboration with dentists and anesthesia providers

- Current Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in Virginia
- CPR/BLS certification
- Local anesthesia certification (preferred/required per VA regulations)

- Experience or training in sedated or special-needs patients (preferred)
