Summary

You will serve as a ARCHITECT in the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND ATLANTIC.

You will serve as a ARCHITECT in the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will be directly responsible for executing in-house architectural design work products and services within specified milestones and quality standards. You will analyze and design extensive architectural alterations and modifications to existing facilities to meet the ever-changing demands placed upon the shore establishments of the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Supported Commands. You will participate in on-site Functional Analysis Concept Development (FACD) and/or charrette to determine functional requirements and develop concept design for large, complex projects.

You will investigate or evaluates architectural issues and concerns in existing facilities, and develop reports that include recommendations and options for remediation or corrective measures, as applicable. You will plan and lead project design conferences/work sessions and on-site Functional Analysis Concept Development (FACD) and/or charrettes with stakeholders to determine project requirements and to develop concept designs. You will identify areas of risk associated with advanced planning, design and construction and develop mitigation strategies or alternatives.

You will prepare correspondence, reports, and economic analyses. Prepares written and oral presentations regarding architectural-related topics.

You must possess a CURRENT Registered Architect (RA) license/registration issued from the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or any State in the U.S.(

NOTE:

You must include a copy of your CURRENT license/registration with your application. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Utilizing knowledge of architectural concepts, theories, principles, practices, and techniques to plan, design, manage, construct, oversee, and maintain a wide range of shore installation facilities projects;
2) Performing technical reviews of architectural designs, calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates prepared by other architects and engineers for adequacy;
3) Ensuring facilities are designed and constructed utilizing sound design practices and that they satisfy safety and architectural standards;
4) Planning, coordinating, and directing multi-design projects and services for command facilities; and
5) Preparing architectural design drawings, calculations, and specifications on architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD and Specs Intact).

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Applicants must possess:

A. I have a bachelor's or higher degree in architecture. OR

B. I have a bachelor's or higher degree in a field related to architecture that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems.

OR

C. I have a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings.
