Role Description The Landscape Architect/Designer will work full time on-site in Hamilton, VA, collaborating closely with the principals and clients to design residential and specialty outdoor spaces. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing site plans and concept designs, preparing planting plans, and producing detailed drawings and renderings. The role involves meeting with clients to understand project goals, conducting site visits and measurements, and refining designs based on feedback and site constraints.

The Landscape Architect/Designer will coordinate with contractors, assist in project budgeting and phasing, and help oversee construction progress to ensure design intent is maintained. Additional tasks may include preparing presentation materials, maintaining project documentation, and contributing to the continuous improvement of studio standards and w

orkflows.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of residential landscape design and planning skills, including site analysis, concept development, and preparation of planting and hardscape plans.
• Proficiency with design and drafting tools (e.g., CAD, 3D modeling, hand drawing and graphic presentation tools).
• Knowledge of horticulture and plant selection appropriate to local climate, soils, and site conditions.
• Understanding of grading, drainage, construction detailing, and materials suitable for residential landscapes.
• Strong visual communication skills, including hand sketching, rendering, and preparation of client-facing presentations.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills for client meetings, teamwork, and coordination with contractors.
• Organizational and project management abilities, including time management, documentation, and attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Licensure as a Landscape Architect or progress toward licensure is preferred, where applicable.
• Ability to work on-site in Hamilton, VA, conduct regular field visits, and perform occasional physical tasks related to site assessment.
