Overview
Piedmont Geriatric Hospital (PGH), operated by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), is a 123-bed psychiatric facility dedicated exclusively to serving individuals aged 65 and older.
We deliver person-centered mental health services that empower older adults to thrive in their communities. PGH is the only state facility in Virginia focused solely on the mental health needs of seniors, offering a unique opportunity to be part of a team making a meaningful difference daily. Responsibilities- Provide psychiatric evaluation and onsite coverage for geriatric (65+) public sector patient population.
- Work primary hours of 8:30 am–5:00 pm with on-call psychiatric services on weekends and holidays as needed.
- Must possess an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or obtain one prior to the start of employment.
- Medical degree and completion of an ACGME-approved residency training in Psychiatry prior to the start of employment.
- Current DEA controlled Substance registration/licensed or obtain one prior to the start of employment.
Prior geriatric/psychiatric hospital experience. Board certification preferred but board eligible accepted.
