Job Description
General Description: Assumes the responsibility and obligation of establishing and maintaining an athletic training program in all sports.
- Coordinates and organizes the daily Athletic Trainer functions with the Athletic Director and coaches.
- Completes all reporting requirements for the division and complies with law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Reviews student physicals and releases to ensure authenticity.
- Communicates with parents and staff.
- Maintains professional, clinical, technical, communication, and documentation standards and makes decisions based on NATA guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and organizes daily Athletic Trainer functions with the Athletic Director and coaches at each high school.
- Completes all reporting required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Reviews student physicals and releases to ensure authenticity.
- Prevents and provides emergency care, first aid, evaluation, and rehabilitation of injuries.
- Serves as liaison between the team physician, athletes, parents, and coaching staff.
- Assesses readiness to play and provides clearances as needed.
- Consults with coaching staff on conditioning, nutrition, and protective equipment.
- Maintains injury reports, home care instructions, referrals, treatment records, rehabilitation progress notes, and insurance information; communicates this information as needed.
- Provides education and supervision for athletes and students.
- Sets up fields for games and practices; monitors weather conditions and directs protocols.
- Provides medical coverage for practices and sporting events as scheduled with the Athletic Director.
- Coordinates EMS/physician coverage when required.
- Maintains emergency response equipment and performs inspections.
- Performs related duties as assigned by building administrators in accordance with policy.
Required Qualifications:
- Hold licensure through the Virginia Board of Medicine to practice athletic training.
- Hold certification through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
- Hold a valid Virginia driver’s license.
Salary: $60,942 - $117,165
Educational Supplements:
- Master's: +7% of base salary
- BA + 15: $750
- Teacher National Board Certification: $2,000
- Doctorate: $2,000
Additional Information: This is an 11-month/220 day position annually.
Position Type: Full-Time
