Shenandoah Valley, Virginia Hospital Medicine Physician Locum Tenens
Long-Term Coverage | 10+ Shifts/Month | Epic | No Call

Rhino Medical is seeking Hospital Medicine Physicians for a substantial long-term locum tenens need across two community hospitals in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, beginning January 1, 2027.

This is an estimated 12-month assignment with multiple full-time coverage needs, including both day hospitalist and nocturnist opportunities. Physicians can expect defined 12-hour shifts, manageable community-hospital volumes, Epic EMR, and paid travel.

Coverage Opportunities

Woodstock, Virginia – Day Hospitalist

• Two Day Rounder openings
• 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
• Approximately 20 patients per day
• 25-bed acute-care hospital
• 12 hours of onsite physician coverage daily
• Weekday NP/PA support

Front Royal, Virginia – Day Hospitalist

• One Day Rounder opening
• 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
• Approximately 22 patients per day
• 36-bed acute-care hospital
• 24-hour physician coverage
• Physicians must be comfortable working alongside Family Medicine residents

Front Royal, Virginia – Nocturnist

• One Nocturnist opening
• 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Onsite Hospital Medicine coverage
• Additional telemedicine admission support for surrounding community hospitals

Assignment Structure

• Start: January 1, 2027
• Estimated duration: 12 months
• Minimum commitment: 10 shifts per month
• 12-hour physician shifts
• Epic EMR

Practice Environment

• Community-based acute-care Hospital Medicine
• Approximately 20–22 patients per day, depending on site
• No onsite specialty backup outside of ICU services
• Established inpatient coverage model
• Epic throughout the system

Requirements

• MD or DO
• Family Medicine or Internal Medicine residency trained
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• Active Virginia medical license
• Active DEA
• Current ACLS
• Current BLS
• Physicians working the Front Royal assignment must be comfortable supporting a teaching environment with Family Medicine residents
