Assistant Professor of Mathematics

The University of Virginia's College at Wise, a division of the University of Virginia located in Wise, Virginia, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics within the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. The position is a full‑time, 9‑month commitment at the assistant professor level with a start date of August 2026.

• Creating and teaching undergraduate courses in Mathematics at both the introductory and advanced undergraduate levels.
• Serving the department and college on various committees.
• Advising students.
• Pursuing ongoing scholarly activity, preferably in conjunction with undergraduate students.
• Assisting the department chair with assessment and other duties as needed.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ph.D. in Mathematics.
• Demonstrated ability for engaged and innovative teaching at the undergraduate level.
• Preference for candidates with teaching expertise in pure mathematics who can articulate a clear understanding of UVA Wise’s public liberal arts mission.
