Position: Licensed 6th Grade Science Teacher
School Year:
Location: Basalt Middle School
Reports to: Basalt Middle School Principal
Classification: Certified Exempt - Full-Time (1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week)
Contract Period: 185 working days.
- $54,000 to $83,500 (Based on education and years of relevant teaching experience). The annual salary listed above is based on a full‑time, 8‑hour workday (FTE
1) and a full working calendar. For positions with less than a full FTE or reduced hours, such as part‑time or late‑start positions, the salary will be prorated accordingly. - Basalt Middle School is seeking a dynamic team member to serve as a 6th Grade Science Teacher and Crew Leader for the 2026-27 school year and beyond (to begin Aug, 2024). Bilingual Preferred.
- Our ideal candidate enjoys collaboration with a team, believes every child can succeed, loves a challenge, feels passionate about helping students make the world a better place, gives second and third chances, uses feedback to improve, and can analyze student work and data to provide just in time support to students.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Active Colorado teacher license, authorization, or the ability to obtain
- Endorsement in Science (6-12), Middle School Science, Elementary Education, or the ability to obtain
- Official transcripts must be provided upon hire. For international transcripts, an evaluation is required through a member organization of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES)
- Visa candidates:
An initial (3-year) license is the minimum requirement for employment offers
- Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- A patient, creative, and adaptable educator who is passionate about working with adolescents and embraces the challenges and rewards of teaching in a culturally diverse classroom.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
- May include standing and walking for extended periods; bend, stoop, and lift materials; reach for supplies on high shelves; use manual dexterity for tasks like writing and using technology; communicate clearly and effectively with students; climb stairs in multi‑level buildings.
