Job Description

Full-time, twelve month position serving the school division as the Director of Teaching and Learning. This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction (ASI) and specifically assists ASI with PreK-12 curriculum, instruction and assessment. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2025.

Qualifications,

Education and Experience
  • Demonstrated dedication to students and their needs.
  • Requires a minimum of a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision.
  • At least five years of recent successful experience as a classroom teacher and preferred experience as a building administrator or supervisory role.
Responsibilities
  • Provide support to building principals and staff in the development and implementation of instructional plans, procedures, and policies.
  • Administer and coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of a division-wide curriculum; clearly communicate and oversee the implementation process and regularly report on the status of division’s education programs and services at the request of the Superintendent or the School Board.
  • Manage and assist with division-wide professional development that aligns with the school division’s strategic plan and priorities.
  • Investigate, review and recommend instructional programs to address educational needs based on analysis of division test data, state/local reports, and research.
  • Coordinate the activities of all groups of the instructional team to achieve a unified instructional program.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate teaching and learning programs with teachers and principals, including learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.
  • Partner with the Director of Technology and building administration to provide integration of instruction with digital conversion for best learning outcomes.
  • Meet regularly with Division Instructional Coaches and Reading Specialists to communicate progress in achieving division goals and objectives and needs.
  • Provide leadership to teachers and administrators in promoting quality instructional strategies and resources in all content areas.
  • Evaluate and observe teaching staff as requested by building administration.
  • Recommend the acquisition and purchase of instructional materials and equipment based on available data including textbook and curriculum adoption.
  • Establish division-wide curriculum committees that focus on pacing guides, coordinating and sharing best practices, implementing innovative, research-based strategies.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with administrators to discuss curriculum, instruction, data, assessment, and ongoing school improvement.
  • Serve as division liaison with the Local Community College system and provide division oversight for Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement, and accelerated learning for students.
  • Provide and interpret data related to teaching and learning with administrators and lead teachers.
  • Provide assistance and collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent, Central Office Administrators, and Principals in designing annual professional development plans.
  • Serve as the division’s leader in virtual and blended teaching and learning.
  • Collect, organize, and disseminate weekly updates to building Administrators.
  • Stay informed of current educational trends, innovations, and programs and communicate information to administrators and instructional staff.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Student Services in implementing intervention, differentiated instruction, and monitoring student data in the areas of attendance, academics, and behavior.
