Job Description
We are seeking a STEAM Teacher to provide engaging, project‑based lessons that incorporate the 5
Cs (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and citizenship) for students K‑6 in a resource class across multiple content areas (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics). The teacher will also support curriculum development, staff professional development, and community engagement.
- Endorsement in Elementary Education with PreK‑6 required or eligibility for Virginia Licensure in Elementary Education.
- Valid certification meeting ESSA requirements with a specific endorsement in the area to which the teacher is assigned.
- Acceptable rating for teaching experience if prior teaching experience is held.
- Prior teaching experience at the elementary level preferred.
- Master's degree in education or related field preferred but not required.
- Experience or additional endorsements in administration, technology, engineering, or science preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Plan and deliver project‑based instruction aligned with current state and division curriculum standards.
- Design, implement, and assess STEM/STEAM instructional strategies using researched‑based practices.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and provide ongoing, formative assessments.
- Use student performance data to inform instructional planning and decision‑making.
- Collaborate with building administration, teachers, curriculum specialists, and community partners to expand STEAM experiences.
- Develop and lead professional development opportunities for staff on STEAM and project‑based learning.
- Maintain a safe and conducive learning environment and manage classroom behavior.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, and community stakeholders regarding student progress.
- Participate in continuous professional development and demonstrate ethical, professional conduct.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal.
Full‑time position. Salary ranges from $52,368 to $80,646 per year, as per contract and board policies.
EvaluationPerformance will be assessed in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certificated personnel.
