Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team at Orange County High as a full-time History/Social Studies teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore historical events, understand social dynamics, and develop critical thinking skills. This role involves creating an engaging learning environment that fosters curiosity and encourages students to connect past events with contemporary issues.

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum goals.
• Teach a variety of history and social studies topics, including but not limited to world history, U.S. history, government, and economics.
• Foster a classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and open dialogue among students.
• Employ diverse teaching strategies and instructional materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
• Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing timely feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the social studies curriculum and participate in school-wide initiatives.
• Engage students in discussions about current events and their historical context, encouraging critical analysis.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student performance and classroom activities.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and historical scholarship.

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Valid teaching certification in History/Social Studies for the appropriate grade level.
• Strong knowledge of historical events, social studies concepts, and current events.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
• Proven ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Experience with differentiated instruction and assessment strategies.
• Proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources in the classroom.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Commitment to fostering a love of learning and encouraging student inquiry.
