Job Summary
While the location will mainly be at the Yorktown Library, this position may work at the Tabb or Yorktown Library. Responsible for providing reference assistance to library patrons. Assists patrons with research and activities and independently performs research for reference requests. Instructs patrons in the use of automated catalog, electronic indexes and other reference materials and equipment. Helps in other areas as assigned, such as assisting with programs and creating displays.
Compensation$16.00 hourly.
ScheduleShifts range from 10 to 20 hours a week. Must be able to work evening and weekend hours, and a continual floating schedule as needed.
QualificationsBachelor's degree and public library experience desired, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of basic library procedures, methods and techniques helpful. Personal computer experience using Microsoft Office Suite and the Internet necessary.
Physical DemandsMust be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including office equipment such as computers, calculators, copiers, facsimile machines, microfiche machines, etc. Work involves some lifting of boxes of books and/or periodicals, and pushing, and pulling of a hand cart or other type of cart.
LocationYorktown, VA. Primarily at the Yorktown Library, possibly at the Tabb Library.
