Instructional Paraprofessional

Location: Bedford

Job Summary

To provide a well organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.

Essential Duties

* Prepares for classroom activities under the supervision of a licensed teacher.

* Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.

* Assists individual children in need of special attention.

* Performs classroom clerical duties.

* Grade independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher.

* Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties such as snack time, bathroom time, lunchroom, and activity periods.

* Set up audio-visual equipment and other instructional material.

* Assist in reviewing student work turned in to be reviewed and checked.

* Assist in drill work.

* Assists with reading and storytelling.

* Participate in an in-service training program.

* Assists teacher in duties relating to the supervision of playground, cafeteria, and bus loading activities.

* Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as the Principal may assign.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

Must be a high school graduate and demonstrated an aptitude for the work to be performed. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
