The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM), established in 1969, is a premier institution dedicated to advancing aviation maintenance through quality education and training. With 15 campuses nationwide, AIM accounts for 20% of all students attending FAA‑certified Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) schools and graduates almost one in four U.S. aircraft technicians each year.

We are looking for Aircraft Maintenance Instructors to join our Manassas campus and train the next generation of FAA‑certified mechanics in our Part 147 program. Prior flight‑line, hangar, or heavy‑maintenance experience is valued, and no formal teaching experience is required. Veterans are especially encouraged to apply.

Compensation: $38 – $41 per hour, $5,000 sign‑on bonus (through July 1st), $2,500 relocation available for qualified out‑of‑area candidates. Employment is full time.

About the Role: As an Aircraft Maintenance Instructor (A&P Mechanic Instructor), you will deliver FAA‑aligned curriculum, provide hands‑on instruction in classroom and hangar environments, and support student success.

Schedule Options
  • Option 1:
    Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm EST (Friday flexibility)
  • Option 2:
    Evening shift:
    Monday – Thursday, 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm EST (Friday flexible)
  • Option 3:
    Weekend shift:
    Thursday – Sunday, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm EST
Key Responsibilities
  • Teach aircraft maintenance systems, procedures, and techniques in a hands‑on environment.
  • Deliver FAA‑aligned curriculum to prepare students for A&P certification.
  • Demonstrate practical skills used by A&P mechanics and aviation technicians.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
  • Support curriculum updates and collaborate with program leadership.
  • Create a structured, engaging, and safety‑focused learning environment.
  • Maintain classroom, lab equipment, and training materials.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in aviation or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Background as an A&P Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic, or Aviation Maintenance Technician.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certificate required.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft systems and aviation maintenance procedures.
  • Interest in mentoring, coaching, and developing others.
  • Ability to work in a structured, compliance‑driven training environment.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Flexibility to support evening or weekend schedules as needed.
