Grove Christian School is a Christ-centered environment that integrates education with biblical faith. Our school, located in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking a passionate Upper School Principal. With an enrollment of over 450 students from preschool through high school, we are committed to nurturing servant leaders who will make a positive impact on the world.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Directs Grove Christian School Upper School (grades 6-12) to include administration of instructional and operational programs and activities. Serve as an instructional leader, spiritual mentor, and visionary administrator who champions academic excellence, Christ-like character, and a supportive school culture that partners with families in the discipleship and development of young men and women.
Spiritual Leadership- Model a vibrant and mature Christian faith and integrate biblical truth into all aspects of leadership and decision-making.
- Foster a Christ-centered culture rooted in grace, truth, prayer, and discipleship.
- Support faculty and staff in their spiritual growth and Christian worldview integration in the classroom.
- Partner with families and church communities to support student spiritual formation.
- Supervise, support, and evaluate instructional staff in grades 6–12 to ensure a rigorous and relevant academic program.
- Lead ongoing curriculum development and academic planning in alignment with the school's mission and accreditation standards.
- Coordinate courses and programs such as Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment.
- Analyze data to inform instructional strategies and student achievement goals.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development among faculty and staff.
- Direct appropriate programs to include athletic, performing arts and academic activities.
- Oversee daily operations of the Upper School, including discipline, scheduling, teacher assignments, and parent/guardian communication.
- Implement and monitor school-wide behavioral expectations and policies including monitoring attendance trends and overseeing truancy interventions; address safety and welfare issues by holding meetings with parents/guardians, investigating incidents, documenting findings, contacting proper authorities and conforming to legal requirements and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, safety procedures, and accreditation standards as well as existing applicable federal and state statute, policies and guidelines related to private Christian schools.
- Collaborate with the administration and leadership teams to align Upper School goals with the overall mission of the school.
- Assist in the hiring, onboarding, and retention of qualified and mission-aligned faculty and staff.
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of and adherence to all Grove Christian School policies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans for Grove Christian School initiatives.
- May perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School in accordance with the Grove Christian School policies and practices.
- Build strong relationships with students, families, and staff through visibility, approachability, and consistent communication.
- Support student well-being, character development, and college/career readiness.
- Partner with the school/guidance counselor and support staff to address academic, behavioral, and emotional needs.
Required:
Preferred:
- At least 3 years of recent successful full-time experience as a supervisor, or administrator with preference given to experience at the secondary level (grades 6-12).
- Servant leader with a collaborative leadership style.
- High emotional intelligence and a heart for mentoring both students and teachers.
- Strategic thinker and problem-solver with the ability to manage complex responsibilities.
- Committed to academic excellence, innovation, and spiritual development.
Terms of Employment WORK SCHEDULE: 12 months / 7:30 a.m.
