Role Description The Grade 3 Teacher will deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in all core subject areas, including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies, aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning. This full-time, on-site role in Gainesboro, VA includes planning daily lessons, differentiating instruction to meet individual student needs, and assessing student progress using a variety of formative and summative measures.
The teacher will create a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment that supports academic growth and social-emotional development. Responsibilities include communicating regularly with families and caregivers, collaborating with grade-level and support staff, participating in professional learning, and maintaining accurate records and reports. The teacher will also supervise students during classroom and school activities and follow all school and division policies and procedures.
Qualifications for This Posting
- Valid Virginia teaching license for Grade 3 or valid US-state-issued teaching license that is eligible for reciprocity in Virginia (Provisional licensure candidates are not sought for this post at this time)
- Strong foundation in Elementary Education and Education, including experience in classroom teaching of Literacy and Mathematics
- Proficiency in planning, delivering, and adapting lessons aligned with state standards, especially within a CLT or PLC
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting diverse learners, including students with varying abilities and backgrounds.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education is expected, or a Bachelor's degree with the completion of a teacher training program; advanced degree or additional endorsements are beneficial
- Experience in an elementary classroom setting, including student teaching or equivalent practical experience, is expected for this posting, though recent graduates from a teacher preparation program with fully-completed coursework in elementary education are welcome to apply
