Job Description

Position Title: Paraprofessional/Para educator

Start Date: August 1, 2026

Contract: 10‑Month Contract

Salary: Salary commensurate with experience

Department: Brunswick Elementary School

The paraprofessional will assist the classroom teacher with facilitating instruction and shared classroom supervision. Duties include preparing instructional materials, facilitating small and whole‑class activities, assisting with library duties, managing classroom supervision, observing and grading, maintaining an organized learning environment, setting up displays, ensuring health and safety of students, completing clerical duties, administering assessments, and performing other assigned tasks.

  • Prepare, plan, and organize lessons and educational programs under the guidance of the instructor.
  • Prepare all materials for lessons, including handouts, worksheets, and exams.
  • Assist teacher/classroom with instructional activities.
  • Assist classroom teachers with supervision, observation, grading, and record keeping.
  • Help maintain an organized and responsive learning environment.
  • Set up displays, bulletin boards, and work areas prior to lesson.
  • Ensure health and safety of children within the organization.
  • Complete clerical duties as needed to facilitate teaching.
  • Assist teacher and/or administer assessments to evaluate student progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and ability to pass Para Pro or local assessment; or possess an associate’s degree (preferred).
  • Minimum of three (3) years working with students in an instructional setting (preferred).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Citizen, residency or work visa required.
