Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Instructional Assistant at Head Start (TEAC). The successful candidate will support the educational and developmental needs of young children in a nurturing and stimulating environment. This role involves working closely with lead teachers to facilitate learning activities, provide individualized support, and ensure a positive classroom experience for all students.
Responsibilities- Assist lead teachers in implementing lesson plans and educational activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development in young children.
- Provide one‑on‑one and small group support to students, helping to reinforce learning concepts and skills.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation, providing feedback to teachers to inform instructional practices.
- Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages exploration and creativity.
- Assist with classroom management, ensuring that students adhere to behavior expectations and fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
- Support the preparation and organization of classroom materials and resources for daily activities.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a collaborative learning environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Help with the supervision of students during transitions, recess, and other non‑instructional times.
- Uphold the values and mission of Head Start (TEAC) while promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in early childhood education or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from lead teachers.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and growth of young children.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Must pass background checks and comply with all health and safety regulations.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
