Full-Time Flex Substitute Teacher (MTES)

Job DescriptionSummary: Flex Substitute Teachers are full-time employees who are assigned to one school and report to the school daily. Substitutes are responsible for implementing teacher-created lesson plans or providing instructional support in the absence of a regular classroom teacher or classroom support staff.
Qualifications- High School degree/GED required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age or have completed two years of college (minimum 48 credit hours).
- Valid teaching license or eligibility for teaching license preferred. Candidates without prior teaching experience or a teaching license must complete or provide proof of completion of a substitute training course or college course in classroom management.
- Previous successful work with children; experience in a public school system preferred.
- Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom and respond to emergency situations in a calm manner.
- Able to follow oral and written directions and establish effective working relationships with staff and students.
- Able to operate computer technology as directed by the school and as required to follow lesson plans.
- Flexible and open to working in a different classroom each day based on the needs of the school.
- Essential duties are described in a non-restrictive manner. Other duties may be assigned.
- Implement lesson plans, ensuring the integrity of academic time, motivating students to learn and participate, and organizing and grouping students for effective instruction. Consult with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and/or concerns.
- Ensure learning is appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Implement effective pupil management procedures and ensure the adequate supervision of all students; maintain high standards and uphold the student conduct code.
- Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to an administrator immediately or as soon as reasonably possible.
- Maintain a positive learning environment and classroom procedures that foster a safe and respectful climate for all students and staff.
- Comply with all building procedures and schedules and promote the proper use and care of school property.
- Work cooperatively with staff and parents.
- Incorporate the effective use of available technology.
- Inform the absent teacher of special situations or problems encountered.
- Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Attend to all non-teaching duties when assigned.
Pay Rate: The salary range is $24,736-$40,723
Contract: Full time / 10 months / 183 days
Start Date: This position is effective with the school year.
