Job SummaryThis position is responsible for assisting the school principal in the daily operation and administration of an assigned school. The role involves supervising teaching and learning, creating a safe environment, monitoring curriculum, managing budget development, and other duties necessary for successful school operations.
Responsibilities- Articulate and advocate for the Bedford County Public Schools’ mission, vision, core values and cultural norms for learners, teachers, support staff and the school community.
- Support the development, implementation and evaluation of teaching and learning based on learner‑centered principles and competency‑based assessments.
- Promote innovative practices that enhance student learning opportunities and motivate learners by exploring interests and passions.
- Implement and enforce all federal, state, and local laws, policies and regulations.
- Supervise professional, paraprofessional, administrative and non‑professional personnel assigned to the school.
- Assume responsibility for the safety and administration of the school facility.
- Maintain high standards of student conduct through discipline that models positive behavior interventions and restorative justice.
- Model non‑discriminatory practices in all activities.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the school principal or other appropriate administrators.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)- Master’s degree and the Virginia Postgraduate Professional License, licensed in school administration and supervision.
- Five (5) years of successful experience as a teacher, administrator or supervisor at the required level of employment.
- Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, dial telephone, enter data into a computer, read computer screen and printed material, hear and understand speech, speak audibly, lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height, bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.
Work EnvironmentThe duties are normally performed in a school/classroom environment. The noise level is usually moderate.
Physical DemandsPrimarily sedentary work with occasional walking or standing. Requires minimal dexterity.
