Substitute Teacher

Prospect Heights Middle is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Substitute Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring that students continue to receive quality education in the absence of their regular classroom teacher. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and a passion for fostering student growth and engagement.

• Implement lesson plans left by the regular teacher and ensure that students understand the material.
• Maintain classroom management and create a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
• Assist students with their academic needs and provide support as necessary.
• Supervise students during class activities, lunch, and recess to ensure their safety.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the varying needs of students.
• Report any incidents or issues to the appropriate school personnel.
• Complete any administrative tasks as required, including attendance records and lesson notes.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions as needed.

• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and student needs.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and administration.
• Must pass background checks as required by school policy.
