Description
Merritt Academy is in search of an energetic and dynamic Spanish Teacher to join our remarkable team. The primary focus of the Spanish Teacher is teaching grade appropriate academic classes to our Kindergarten to 8th Grade classrooms in Spanish. In addition to language instruction, lessons will include appropriate cultural elements and the promotion of respect for second languages and second language speakers.
The Spanish Teacher will be responsible for managing the classroom and appropriate use of bulletin boards, visual aides, and technology in the classroom. This position is also responsible for keeping abreast of current trends in language instruction.
- Maintain control of classroom using effective classroom management
- Prepare weekly lesson plans in accordance with age-appropriate guidelines established by the administration
- Prepare and teach lessons and values curriculum
- Maintain accurate and complete student evaluations, including progress reports, portfolio, anecdotal reports, etc.
- Evaluate all children’s social and academic development continually
- Maintain positive parent communication
To succeed in this position you will need the following:
- Bachelors degree required
- Experience working in education required
- Native or native-level proficiency in Spanish
- Read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Knowledge of developmental milestones and age appropriate practices
- Effective classroom-management techniques
- Effective leadership and team building skills
- Pass pre-employment screenings
